THE LIVING VOICE
During National Poetry Month in April 2015, we introduced the first class of our youth enrichment program,
The Living Voice, which uses poetry and spoken word to cultivate intellect, identity, and creativity in our youth.
During the program, students were encouraged to explore their individual identities through conversation and critical exercises, and construct an original poem culminating their self-reflection. On May 30, 2016 we produced a poetry show where the students stepped behind the mic to elevate their voices to the community.
